to additional restrictions including but not limited to

determining the existence of such rights and for obtaining
any other permissions, and paying associated fees, which
may be necessary for the proposed use.

Permission to Reproduce British Library Images
The Picture Library holds copyright in all its images.
The Library is only permitted to make available images from
books and manuscripts on which the original authors and
artists copyright has now expired because they died more
than 70 years ago, unless special permission has been granted
by the rights holder. In common with all other heritage
image libraries, the British Library charges fees for the
reproduction of images from its collection in publications,
in exhibitions, and in any public electronic media.
Our Permissions section can provide details of charges
if you require British Library images for publication, broadcast
or display rather than for research or private study. For
some academic non-profit books the fees may be reduced by
agreement. If you need an image for Website use please specify
in your initial contact so we can provide a digital image
with our watermark embedded.
